The Heart Behind MIINT

We created MIINT from our shared love of great food, quality local produce and the independent businesses that make Sussex such a special place. As a family business ourselves, we understand the passion, care and hard work that goes into creating something of real quality. That’s why we’re proud to work with independent and family-run producers wherever we can, helping introduce their products to visitors staying across Sussex.

Our Sussex Roots

MIINT grew out of our life here in Shoreham By Sea. We’ve lived in Sussex our whole lives, raising our family by the coast and spending weekends exploring the downs, the markets and the small independent producers that make this area special. Shoreham has always felt like home — the kind of place where you know your neighbours, recognise the faces behind the food and feel part of a community that genuinely cares. That sense of belonging is a big part of MIINT, and it’s why we’re so proud to share the best of Sussex with the people who visit it.                                                                                              Our own backgrounds have naturally shaped the business too. With my experience in catering, I’ve always had a real appreciation for good food, presentation and quality, while my husband brings years of experience in sales management and finance, helping us balance the creative side of MIINT with the practical side of building a strong business.

Family at the Heart

From the very beginning, our family has been at the very heart of our MIINT journey. Talking through ideas around the kitchen table, making decisions, testing products and giving us their opinions — sometimes a little more honestly than we asked for! 

What began as my idea has very much become a family journey. Their support, encouragement and belief in MIINT gave me the confidence to keep pushing the idea forward, we have worked side by side to turn MIINT into what it is today and we’re truly proud. From the countless ideas and decisions to plenty of trials and errors.

MIINT has developed into something very special.

How We Choose Our Producers

One of the loveliest and most encouraging parts of the journey has been the support we’ve received from the Sussex producers themselves.

High Weald Dairy believed in the idea enough to send us products to try and shared their thoughts and ideas with us as MIINT developed. Spirit of the Downs has also been incredibly supportive and has given us a real boost in confidence along the way. Horsham Gingerbread and many of the other independent producers we work with have shown us the same warmth and encouragement.

That support has meant a huge amount to us.

It has made MIINT feel like more than just a business we are building as a family. It feels like something's being created alongside a wider community of Sussex makers and producers who care deeply about what they do.

And that really is what MIINT is about.

We want guests visiting Sussex to discover the people, places and products behind the area — the cheesemakers, winemakers, bakers, chocolatiers, distillers and small businesses they may never otherwise come across.

So when someone opens a MIINT hamper, we hope they don’t just enjoy what’s inside. We hope they discover a new favourite, remember where it came from and perhaps go on to support that producer again. (All the links are under Producers Page)
